Sikhala blames factionalism for MDC-T failure in Masvingo

Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) Secretary for Mobilisation Job Sikhala on the 25 of April 2015 blamed factionalism within the party structures in Masvingo as the main reason behind the party’s failure to scoop even a single constituency during the 2013 harmonised elections.

Speaking to thousands of MDC-T supporters at Mucheke ground B rally during the launch of the “No Reform No Election” campaign by MDC-T President Mr. Morgan Tsvangirai, Sikhala said Masvingo had betrayed the course of the liberation because everyone wants to be a leader. He said this had resulted in the fights between people of the same party which is not good for the survival of the party.

"People of Masvingo, you have betrayed the course of our liberation because of minor issues, we are all greedy of power, we want to be leaders all," Sikhala said.

He said, despite being the oldest town in Zimbabwe, Masvingo is the poorest town ever with a tallest building that has only four floors and it is the only town in Zimbabwe that has two robots.

Sikhala goes on to say that even during the period of Edison Zvobgo and Simon Mzenda, the story was the same that people of Masvingo fight for positions delaying development in the province. He said even today Vice President Munangagwa is in a fight with the ex-Provincial Minister for Masvingo Hon Kudakwashe Bhasikiti. He said VP Munangagwa should use his energy to fight Hon Bhasikiti because he cannot fight MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai. Sikhala urged Masvingo not to follow VP Munangagwa.

"If you see anybody here in Masvingo who says Isupport Munangagwa, there is none other province Mr President that has prophets and bishops who casts away demons like Masvingo. It  has Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi and bishop Makamba, kana mukanzwa munhu anoti ndotsigira Munangagwa, endai naye anonyikwa mujorodhani naBishop Mutendi mhepo dzibviswe, dzibude maari." said Sikhala.

In the March 2008 elections, MDC-T got 15 seats in Masvingo but, during the 2013 harmonised elections, it got zero seats with ZANU PF collecting all the constituencies.

He applauded Masvingo MDC supporters for the massive welcome they did to party leader Mr Tsvangirai.
